Must See Streaming Movie of the Week: Plain Truth (2004)

I had intended to save this movie for my Lifetime Kills column (which I just don't update enough), since I just saw it and was frankly blown away. Then I saw Plain Truth was streaming on Hulu, so I thought, what the heck, right?

Let's put the cards on the table, I have seen a lot of Lifetime movies in my day and so you know it's no understatement when I say Plain Truth is the best movie ever produced for Lifetime. No. Joke. Mariska Hargitay plays a soulless lawyer who gets attached to the case of her life when she takes on defending a teenage Amish girl who is accused of killing her newborn baby. To make things even stranger, this girl swears she's never had sex. Mmmm-hmmm.

It's twists and turns aplenty here, and while some of it is by the book, Plain Truth is a supremely solid mystery that keeps you guessing. If you take this one on, makes sure you watch it until the end, because the final few moments are jaw-dropping. It's a modern movie that uses a classic formula to build suspense and create a wonderful mystery, just like they did in them olden days.

Maybe I'll do this film some justice with a review for my column... one day...

I swear, what is it with movies about Amish people? They're all so good. This movie rocks.

Did you see 'Amish Grace', by any chnace?

You can watch it streaming on mylifetime.com, and it seriously made me cry. Based on a true story and starring Kimberly Williams.!

PS miss you

Hmm, this movie sounds very interesting, I like a good Lifetime flick every now and then, at least I remember a lot of the 90's ones, lol. Thanks for letting us know about it.
