It's Christmas in July People!

At least it is at Christmas TV Companion! Joanna asked me to do a guest blog on whatever Christmas treat I wanted and lo and behold, Nestor, the Long Eared Donkey instantly came to mind. My favorite of all Christmas Specials, this Rankin and Bass classic means the world to me and I was so thrilled to get to spread the long eared donkey love... and I don't care how dirty that sounds!

So please enjoy the linkage. Hopefully it will get your mind off the heat!

Well, thanks alot for bringing up a painful childhood memory..watching Nestor the Long Eared Christmas Donkey for the first time. Cried my eyes out.
I love all the Rankin/Bass films, Nestor and The Little Drummer Boy tug hard at the strings of my heart.

Why have I ever seen this one??? I love X-mas specials (especially from the sixties and seventies) so I need to track this down.

I don't think that I've ever seen this one. Maybe it will be on the ABC family channel during the holidays - they usually have alot of the Christams specials on then. I probably would get pretty emotional during it though.

I loved the Little Drummer Boy, Rudolph and A Year Without A Santa Claus

Aw, man. I was six and remember watching this when it premiered the winter after my dad died. And after that scene in the snow I became completely unglued -- unhinged even. So unglued I kinda withdrew, shut down, and went to another place for several days until my mom coaxed and convinced me she wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I can barely look at that picture without tearing up.

Thanks everyone for the comments. W.B. that was a really moving story. Thanks for sharing. That must have been SO tough!

Nestor definitely belongs on a list of Kindertraumas! And LaraAnn, it was airing on those ABC Family channel marathons awhile back so keep your eyes peeled!
