Halloween Countdown: Day 5 - The Last Child

Oh, now this one looks good. This ABC Movie of the Week, which aired on this day in 1971 was produced by the king, Aaron Spelling and directed by the great John Llewellyn Moxey. It's a tale about an overcrowded planet where every couple is allowed one child, and if you're 65 and need medical care... Fugedaboudit! A couple tries to defy the odds when their first child dies and the wife becomes pregnant yet again. Veddy sceddy!

Here's a clip:

Interesting. However, if their first child died, why couldn't they have another? Hmmm...

BTW, the pic of the woman right above your "Blog Archive"... is that Elizabeth Berridge?

Hi Wings, I also was taken aback by the child that died thing. You think they'd let him have another, but you know in TV movie-land nothing is ever as it seems! :)

The pic is of Stockard Channing from The Girl Most Likely To... I do like Elizabeth Berrige. She was so good in Smooth Talk and Rich in Love.

Okay, now that you say who it is, I can totally see Channing in the pic! Thanks!

Don't think I ever saw this one, but it looks interesting.
Sounds a bit like the One Child policy in China, where in rural areas, families are allowed to have a second child if the first is a girl, has a physical disability, mental illness, or mental retardation. Nice to know that the Chinese rank being female up there with "other" disabilities.

Hi Anonymous,

Are you answering the question above in the comments regarding the pic of the woman? The pic in question is the one on my sidebar to the right, which has now been moved down to underneath the section with links to the MAG podcasts. They were not asking about the pic in this actual blog post, but I see where it gets confusing. Thank you for your answer!
