Come Get Your Rankin-and-Bass-On!
Hey guys, with Christmas right around the corner (I know, I can't believe it either), I thought I'd re-post a link to a review I contributed to the beyond awesome Christmas TV History blog. I wrote about my all time favorite Rankin and Bass special, Nestor, the Long Eared Christmas Donkey. I actually gave the film its annual spin the other night, and it's still one of the sweetest and most moving films I have ever seen.
And now it's your turn. What is your favorite Rankin and Bass special? I know almost everyone will say Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer, but please leave a comment and share a little Rankin and Bass love!
Happy Holidays!

I do love Rudolph. I also like the implausible, weird, Rudolph's Shiny New Year. :)
A fine post on Nestor, Amanda! It's certainly among the least pretentious of the R&B specials. Yes, it has made me tear up, too.
I also have a fondness for Rudolph's Shiny New Year; with voice talent like Red Skelton, Morey Amsterdam and Frank Gorshin, it doesn't lack in laughs. Add to that list the two with Mickey Rooney (Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Year Without a Santa Claus) and Pinocchio's Christmas. :o)
Year Without a Santa Claus)
You can't beat the Heat Miser. I was eight years old the first time it was on. At 45, I still watch it.
Leprechaun's Christmas Gold is the best ever!!! I am a faith R/B viewer :D Still waiting for the last four Christmas specials to be released: Little Drummer Boy II, Jack Frost, The First Christmas Snow and The Life & Times of Santa Claus.
By the by, I made Husband watch Nestor....we watched w/ Riff Trax. Check it out, it's hi-larious!
I have to chime in with Rudolph's Shiny New Year is my favorite. I love Happy and his big ears. Mr. Heat Miser is hilarious.
Wow, I need to rewatch Rudolph's Shiny New Year again!
And there's a Little Drummer Boy II?!?! Where have I been?
Thanks everyone for the comments. Love to see the love for my Rankin and Bass guys!
